Howard,
You
might want to try 99% IPA again. At 70% IPA, you have about 30% water in
the alcohol. The lower concenetration is cheaper but will react
differently with some materials.

Hello
Technetters,
I am curious if anyone
has any information on the correct solvent to use in understencil cleaners.
We have a DEK Infinity and have been using IPA 70% concentration since I
have been here, and recently I was informed that it was starting to smear the
solder paste (no-clean) rather than cleaning it. In the past, we had some
99% Anhydrous IPA and the operators loved it for cleaning stencils (before our
ultrasonic cleaner). I spoke with DEK, and they don't really have a
recommendation. I don't know if we just got some weak alcohol or if there
is another reason. Is anyone using the higher concentration IPA?
Aside from the higher cost, would there be any disadvantage?
I was told that DEK is coming out with
their own cleaning solvent, though I don't know what it is (Naphtha based?).
As usual, any information is greatly appreciated.
