we are using a flux that leaves a non-corrosive, non-conductive residue. i was wondering if there were specific IPC standards that covered this or the general standard is to remove allflux, no exceptions. **Kevin, ANSI/IPC J-STD-004 covers the flux material itself and is independent of your usage. Each flux has a four alphanumeric designator. The third alpha in the chain indicates how active or how corrosive the flux is. L = Low Activity, M=medium activity, H=high activity. The last designator is either 0 (no halides) or 1 (halide containing). If you are talking about flux that is left on the assembly, then you probably want to look at J-STD-001. Unfortunately (in my opinion) the standard basically says that cleanliness is whatever you agree to with your customer. So what flux residues you leave on the assembly and how much residue is between you and your customer.
