I am thinking you mean spark gaps. I would recommend against them. While the breakdown voltage can be predicted by formula, the reality is that contaminates and the like will alter that voltage a lot. Plus, they will only work once, and having a PCB actually generate a spark is not the best idea in many circumstances. You will get better and more reliable circuit protection with transorbs and gas discharge tubes.
