Hi Jim. My two cents worth are with regards to AVXs Transguard series of components. They have a PdPtAg terminations the reference document is available at http://www.avxcorp.com/docs/techinfo/smttrsgd.pdf We ended up using a secondary process and touched up the "questionable" connections. Microsectional analysis ultimately disclosed that "wetting" had occurred, but the visual cues customarily associated with wetting of tin/lead solders were not in evidence. Faced with the conventional "footprint in the mud" connection characteristics my recommendation would be to conduct destructive physical analysis on a couple of representative examples and confirm/deny the presence of wetting. You may end up changing flux to achieve satisfactory wetting or you may need to "calibrate" your inspection crew (not an easy chore). Hope the above helps some.
