Olivia,
I know that IPC-TR-460 covers wave solder trouble shooting covering process issues as well
as design issues. Bear in mind that this is an old document dated 1973 and revised in 1974.
How ever it is a good starting point for the non initiated waver.
and  covers the following:

Foreword..... i

Investigating The Problem ii

Pinholes/Blowholes............. 1

Solder Voids .......................2

Spattering/Solderballs.......... 3

Dewetting/Poor wetting......... 4

Bridging & Webbing (Shorts)....... 5

Icicles (Peaks) and Spikes... 6

Fillet Condition................... 7

Heavy Filleting (Excessive Solder)- Solder Side............. 8

Excess Solder - Component Side............. 8

Insufficient Hole Filling.. 9

Insufficient Solder - Solder Side Fillets. 10

Fluxing Problems... 10

Board Damage................. 11
