Yes Steve,
These ceramic babies are space shuttle insulators.
Only way to get heat to the balls, board, and solder paste is under and through
the sides.
This profile is kinda what I envisioned based on
some similar with CCGA's. The big difference is there's 70 mils from board to
part with them as that's how long the columns are and they don't
squat.
That "soak" zone really impresses me as it has to
bring everything up to equillibrium - like all profiles but you know that. Sure
was nice of Kerry to share his success. My ex supplier's profiles looked just
like the solder paste supplier's. Don't quite cute it.
I know you'll have fun with this stuff. As soon as
the order is approved, I'll send you a sample board with which to
play.
Have a good weekend,
Rams 38
Pats 14 only because the Rams will let them have
some fun in the fourth.

STUFF AND REFLOW PROFILES TOO
Hey Earl!
The
profiles are up. Go to:
http://www.stevezeva.homestead.com
The successful one looks interesting from the setpoints...really
pouring the coals to the board in the beginning huh? Gotta heat-up all that
ceramic stuff...

About the reflow profiles - I've asked Steve to place two images
on his
site. The first is a recommended paste supplier profile. The
second is a
successful profile for soldering the ceramic CSP's about
which we've been
talking. I don't know if my new best friend Kerry wants
his name mentioned
as the one enjoying such success, so I won't. He
solders these things
routinely as about 60 per board with many other BGA
types as well.
