Ben, Although I am no test expert, for functional circuit testing, you are better off with an ICT platform. The 5DX is a form of X-ray laminography. It is a good way to check solder joint volume, identify missing components, and find low volume and solder shorting. This is not an electrical test. A 5DX will not be able to identify wrong components, rotated components, and obviously not dead components or components that cannot meet performance specifications. The functional test is necessary. The Agilent 5DX (structural test) is nice to have, but also adds cost to the assembly (about $600K, and a technicial level person to program and often operate.
