In a past life we used brass shields that were tin/lead plated. They were a few mils thick and were etched and with forming grooves for the operator to bend at installation. This worked very well and never had a soldering problem. It happened several times so I contacted someone at HAC and they recommended the "pink death" flux that did the job but not without regrets.
