Peter, Did some work recently on large BNC connectors, the trouble with them is that the body of the connector acts as a great heat sink thus drawing heat away from the solder land and connector lead I was trying to solder. P.s when I contacted the component supplier's they informed me that the component in question was not suitable for wave solder. We now solder them with an RF soldering iron. Hope this is of some use.
