RE: [TN] The effective test method of the expired prepreg.

Jay,

Aging will affect gel time, resin flow, and pressed thickness.  Resin content won't change.  For control measures, I would do only gel time.  But, you should have some understanding of how all factors play into the final product in order to set you lower accept limit.  This will probably involve some designed experiments to verify you get the pressed thickness you want, without weave exposure.

Subject: [TN] The effective test method of the expired prepreg.

Hi, all technet readers!
Here is my question.
In case of using the expired prepreg stored over three months, would you
inform me of effective test method to verify if the expired prepreg is
proper for using?
Our test method is
1. Checking resin content & gel time at first, and then
2. Checking  the pressed prepreg' thickness whether it is within spec or
not.
3. Checking the occurrence of weave texture & weave exposure.

Any remarks will be appreciated.

Regards
Jay Ju
