You may be able to check KYCON, INCORPORATED. They have some right angle modular jacks with a body length of only 13. mm/.512" (with their GL series). You may have to sacrifice Height, though. We do currently use Molex 95001 series and AMP's 557314 series but these do measure .71" as you mentioned. Not sure how many positions you're looking for but it may be a start. Good luck!
