Mary, I have done a composite footprint before and the only thing to be aware of is that there will have to be two different solderpaste stencils to accommodate the two different parts when getting assembled. The assembly house will have to know beforehand which is being used and have the appropriate stencil on hand. This could be a cost adder. Always check with your assembly house and fab house any time you wish to design something out of the ordinary and to avoid any potential gotchas. Hope this helps. Regards, Bill Gebhardt, C.I.D. I am wondering if there will be any problems when we place them with the machine. Any information would be appreciated on this.
