Hi Ted!

Yeah, Jack Crawford turned me on to the articles. He did say they were
"dated", but still very valid...

Basically, they have studies and tests that were done by many different
companies on measled and even delaminated assemblies that proved measling
does not affect performance and/or reliability...

One such report came from George A. Smith who was the Chief of the Materials
and Testing Branch for the Department of Defense at Ft. Meade. He was also
the Chairman of Test Methods Sub-Commitee of the IPC.

They took 12 boards and induced measles by first termal shocking them in a
oven that baked them at +100-degrees C. for 30 minutes, to -65-degrees C for
30-minutes, followed immediately by a 260-degree solder float for 20-seconds.
(They definately measled the boards! The photos show delamination blisters as
well!) To make a long story short, the assemblies were burned-in, then placed
on ships, aircraft, and land vehicles for 6-months with no failures, or
change in appearance or size of the measled areas on the boards.

Thanks Jack!
