Hey Joyce! Don't go to far out there. Remember "Inspect to Accept"! Since there is only "Acceptable" criteria mentioned in the 610 document, I would suggest to Steve to perform a dielectric resistance test to ease his mind. Unless heat is going to be applied to the board again, the condition probably won't progress. Kevin L. I am no so sure...Steve is using polyimide board, which most likely is for high reliability usage (not off the shelf items for commercial usage)...I would not use it if it is for avionics (measling cross the sky is scary...it may infect the stars...)..jk -----Original Message----- From: <Peter George Duncan> [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: June 4, 2001 10:23 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Measling... No. The measling looks quite minor and doesn't come close to other traces or pads. Unless I'm mis-judging the scale of the picture, the affected area isn't carrying high power either, so I don't see that there's a problem. Pete Duncan "Stephen R. Sent by: TechNet <[log in to unmask] ORG> 06/05/01 02:58 AM Please respond to "TechNet E-Mail Forum."; Please respond to SteveZeva Hi ya'll! I took a few days off last week, and came back to be confronted with some boards that have been measled from rework... Go to: http://stevezeva.homestead.com/index.html to take a peek. The boards are polyimide, and it obviously appears that there was too much heat used when they were reworked...also they may have not been baked prior to the rework...I was told that they were, but you know how that goes. I know what the -610 says about it, it says it's acceptable as long as the assembly performs as specified. There isn't any burns or anything around any of the barrels, just the measles...and it's only on one 14-pin DIP location. Would any of you have any REAL hesitation about accepting this assembly? Thanks! -Steve Gregory- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- -----
