Lou, We use spacers all the time for our radial leaded parts. There is a commericial specification (used to be a military one) numbered A-55485 available from any of the websites that offer copies of government specs -(http://astimage.daps.dla.mil) is the one that I use. This spec is a complete catalog of spacers and suppliers. The spacers that I use are nice because they support my parts off the board without affecting topside solder fillets. I like this better than the "kick" in the lead method as the the "kick" method seems to elevate the parts higher than I like to see. I also like the spacers better than the toothpick and wire support methods.
