Well said!! Even Lord Arnold Weinstock, Fuhrer of GEC and not reknowned for his kindly concern for the welfare of employees, realised late in his career that perhaps older people weren't brain dead, set in their ways and inflexible after all. The old dogs can be taught new tricks and to dismiss their employability was "probably to neglect a valuable resource". He said words to this effect in a memo. Why do firms insist on specifying an age limit for a particular post when it precludes very suitable and dynamic people both above and below the llimits. In particular, an older person can bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the table that a younger person may not have. Physical fitness? Look at the number of retired people in the London Marathon. Employers, please judge people on their merit, not when their parents decided to start a family.
