Dan, We started using FPT on our prototypes with good results. It is a good way to do netlist checks for shorts and opens, R's and C's to see you have the right components installed per the BOM and power ground checks. Saves a lot of Engineering time, if you have a production induced problem or a wrong or missing R/C. We find it beneficial for the cost. Once we prototype and go to production we change to ICT and JTAG, but for the prototype its fairly quick and cost effective for us. I have read several articles regarding a flying probe test. I am still unsure that I will benefit from such a test. Can anyone advise on their personal experiences with the flying probe test?
