[THIS IS FROM PEGGY MEADOWS @ INTEL] We're also using the Mentor Expedition tools for board design. For the fab, assembly, and multi-pack drawings we are using a variety of tools like IntelliCAD (Microsoft, inexpensive general use CAD package), AutoCAD, AutoSketch, and Microstation. Each designer has a preference, and as long as they can output dxf and create pdf files to send to vendors it doesn't really matter how they got there. One designer is using Expedition to do the drawings also. I prefer that Mentor concentrate on advancing the routing and high speed design capabilities of the tool and leave drafting stuff to the highly capable tools that already exist. (Level 3, including notes and formats) Does your board software support adequate drafting tools to generate these drawings, or do you export the design to a drafting software? I would be particularly interested in feedback from anyone using Theda board software. Thank you in advance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DesignerCouncil Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF DesignerCouncil.
