Hi Bob, Are you sure that the covertape itself ain't sticky? That's a common problem with the PSA (Cold Seal) process. I myself prefer components taped in a Hot Seal process. I have two different part numbers of a surface mount resistor array that feeds out of a 12mm tape. This is the problem with both: The back end of the part wants to ride up with the tape at the tape peel back point. They look like little soldiers laying on top of the tape. I say the back edge is riding up because the parts are marking side up and I don't see the part actually flipping. The part is .200 x .120 so we are not talking a real small part here. Is this a static problem? Even when the part is in the pocket just before the tape peel back point it seems like it is attracted to the tape because the front edge of the part is raised up against the tape. Anyone else experience this? To get the boards built I fabricated a little piece of metal and taped it to the top of the feeder to keep the part in the pocket. Not too elegant and I would really like to know what is going on here. I even tried blowing air from an ionizer fan on the reel to see if I could neutralize a charge, but that did not help. Thanks.
