Kathy To all repondents..hang on a moment.... Whilst I am surely to be shot at, there is to my understanding, a "difference" between "treating" organic (soft) water and lime/calcium (hard) water. The former would generally require Reverse Osmosis (RO) membrane filtration, and the latter DE-I filtration via the use of various resins - this is intended to be understood by an accountant! Dependant upon the TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) content of the mains water supply, so would you define the use of RO or De-I as your "water treatment system". We have some customers using water that is the colour of tea, yet it does not have a high "salt" presence, only high organic loading - makes wonderful whisky! Can't speak for electronics though. Others have water so hard, you need a steel helmet in the shower! Check your mains water quality for TDS and filter to suit. Use Ionic cleanliness testing (ROSE / SEC) maybe SIR to be sure of no compromise to the end product reliability. I have recently been assigned the task of justifing our water wash system. Here is what I know: 1) Spray over Spray Westkleen system 2) For some reason using softened water not DI. The softening is accomplished through sodium addidtives (got me going). What I am expected to do: Determine what is the effectiveness of the process. Justify why DI isn't used and why adding salt to the wash to remove salt is ok. Then determine the water surface tension and content (hardness, contaminates present, etc) TIA KK --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
