You would think that if someone saw what cigarette smoking does to a person's lungs, what effect it would have on some of the devices in a computer... Sorry, I couldn't resist. Roger M. Stoops, C.I.D., PCB Designer p.s.: In 1997, it was estimated that 170,000 people in the USA would contract lung cancer. Of those, 160,000 would die from cancer. Sobering statistics. "Stephen R. Sent by: TechNet <[log in to unmask] ORG> 03/12/01 12:41 PM Please respond to "TechNet E-Mail Forum."; Please respond to SteveZeva Hi all!! I've got a friend runs a company that provides computer systems and sets-up networks for small businesses, who asked me if I knew of anything documented about cigarette smoke damaging computers. He said that he sees problems all the time that he can relate to cigarette smoke damage. For instance; the tar and nicotine sticks to everything which attracts dust and contaminates to the insides, not to much of a problem on the boards, but the optical drives get hammered. He'd like to be able to show something documented instead of just him saying it, and asked if I knew of anything documented...I'm gonna search at lunchtime, but I thought I'd also ask the experts... Thanks! -Steve Gregory- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
