Fellow TechNeters, We are in the process of establishing clearance guidelines for 0603 and 0402 resistor and capacitor chip component bodies. Manufacturing is willing to concede 0.020 inches (0.025 preferred) between chip bodies placed side by side, but engineering is asking why we can't use 0.015. I realize we have to account for Pick & Place accuracy, reworkability of the part, and whether the process includes bottom side wave solder. What experiences do we have on TechNet and what minimum clearances are being used? Thanks, Jim Kittel --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
