********************CALL FOR PARTICIPATION********************

Photonics has enormous implications for the electronics manufacturing industry. Already a major player in imaging and microvia technology, the photon itself is fast becoming the critical, information-carrying unit in telecommunication products and other applications.

IPC, in cooperation with the Surface Mount Council and the Centre for Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging, is sponsoring an International Conference on Optoelectronics. The conference will be held on Thursday and Friday, May 3-4, 2001 at the Hilton Toronto Airport.

Papers and presentations are sought in a number of areas, including:

*OEM applications and world market forecasts
*Assembly infrastructure issues and equipment
*Packaging (MEMS, MOEMS, etc.)
*Enabling technologies - light sources, multiplexers, connectors, etc.
*Optical fiber technology
*Materials - Adhesives, coatings, etc.
*Test and inspection

Presentations will be 30-45 minutes long and must be non-commercial in nature. Speakers at the conference will receive free admission to the conference, including continental breakfast and lunch on both days, proceedings, and admission to an evening reception on May 3rd.

If you would like to participate in the conference, please e-mail your abstract with address and contact information to John Riley at: [log in to unmask]
or by fax to 847/509-9798 before March 1, 2001. Papers will be due on April 10, 2001.
