A few years back We had a similar requirement. There is a actual guage for testing pull strength. In a pinch a scale ( a fish weighing scale for example you can get at any sports store) can do the same thing if you need to know the amount of lbs it takes to pull the wire out of the crimp. Sometimes it is difficult to get the customer to specify, they tend to go by "feel", not a good thing. -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Phil Nutting Sent: Tuesday, February 27, 2001 10:25 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Wire crimp pull tests To my esteemed colleagues, We had a customer visit today and the topic of "pull testing of crimped wire terminals" came up. We haven't been testing these formally. Do any of you get into crimping of discrete wires and then performing a pull test? What equipment is required to accomplish this task. And the all important one, to what standard should we work? Phil Nutting Manufacturing Engineer Kaiser Systems, Inc.
