John, we use pinless routing with '80s vintage Excellon Mark IV's. A lot of today's designs don't leave a lot of room for additional tooling, and pinless saves on set-ups. -----Original Message----- From: TechNet [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of John Parsons Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2001 12:04 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] FAB - Reality Check, Tooling Holes and Profiling Colleagues, What is the consensus on the use, or addition of NPTH tooling holes to designs for routing in order to hold +/- 0.005" tolerance. Just had a discussion with a new customer who said that he has never had tooling holes added to his designs and has had no tolerance issues with past vendors. So, what is it, are we in the dark ages here? Please tell me what you do.
