ECON 101...TANSTAAFL -----Original Message----- From: <Rudy Sedlak> [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Tuesday, February 20, 2001 8:12 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Getting More, and Not Paying More There is a lot of discussion about getting paid for removal of no-clean flux, with some insistance that the customer pay for it.... This is amusing.... It is pretty common for PCB fabricators to take on more difficult jobs, over-plating them, then wanting suppliers to give them a stripper that will remove the more difficult pattern, at no extra cost, "just to demonstrate that they want the business, and are part of the team". There is a common sense that we have dialed a certain cost into a given operation, and it is up to the vendors to maintain costs, no matter what sort of job is put through.... It does seem that this sort of approach is endemic in our industry, and a good part of the reason is that it is SO difficult to pass these costs up the chain. And, of course, this is because we, as consumers, are used to getting more in electronics, without paying more. What goes around comes around.
