Good Morning Dave Per IPC-A-600F page 11 is Acceptable Class 1,2,3, spacing between conductors meets minimum conductor spacing requirement. Per IPC-A-610C Page 10-8 Acceptable Class 1,2,3, the weave does not reduce the spacing between conductive patterns. Weave Exposure is Acceptable. for Class 1,2,3, Just watch your conductive spacing you can find a Table in IPC 610C on page A-1. If you violate the clearance then it is a defect. Have a good day. Nancy T. >>> [log in to unmask] 01/12/01 02:29PM >>> I have a customer for a high rel application that is concerned about weave exposure on a epoxy glass stiffener. According to IPC-610, weave exposure is not acceptable. Our material supplier sands the material in order to meet tight thickness tolerances. Per IPC-6013, stiffeners are to be evaluated only for mechanical support. In addition, the circuit as supplied is allowed weave exposure if conductor spacing is not reduced below minimum. Since a stiffener carries no conductors, I would consider this a non-issue. Any words of wisdom from manufacturers or assemblers welcome.
