Ken, We use a Radiall right angle surface mount, standing on four short legs, standard type. We clean with Citriclean and DI, no problems. Recommend an electrical leakage test afterwards for ensuring you have those GOhms that should be between center pin and body. Epoxy is pushed inside at the con factory, after curing a small expansion metal cap is pressed into the opening for sealing the whole thing. Nothing you do yourself, think it's patented methods. Without this sealing you may get solder creeping up the legs and inside the con body, not healthy. Ingemar, Now, I have more info on the connector, it's a high frequency connector made by Rosenberger in Germany and their part number is 32K243-40M D3. This one is new part coming out of them and North American Sales do not have more info on that. Are you talking about hand soldering? or regular reflow soldering. So, the parts you were using were coming with backfilled epoxy or something you used to prevent from getting inside. Any problem going thru DI water wash? re, ken patel -----Original Message----- From: Ingemar Hernefjord (EMW) [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Thursday, January 18, 2001 12:03 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: [TN] Can RF connectors be reflowed? we have been soldering RFcons for years. Of course follow con maker's instructions. Advice: see that no flux or solder creeps on inside. We had to buy specials with backfilled epoxy that stopped inside disaster. This one is with teflon bead for sure. re, ken patel -----Original Message----- From: Terveen, James @ NARDAEAST [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2001 12:31 PM To: 'TechNet E-Mail Forum.'; 'Ken Patel' Subject: RE: [TN] Can RF connectors be reflowed? You may have a problem with the teflon bead in the connector, grow as it sees the heat during reflow and that may (no it probably will effect the performance of the connector. -----Original Message----- From: Ken Patel [mailto:[log in to unmask]] Sent: Wednesday, January 17, 2001 2:41 PM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: [TN] Can RF connectors be reflowed? Importance: High All, I am throwing this as a general question. Can RF connectors be reflowed? This one is high frequency. We do not have data sheet and are made in Germany. re, ken patel ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Technet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF Technet To temporarily halt delivery of Technet send the following message: SET Technet NOMAIL Search previous postings at: www.ipc.org > On-Line Resources & Databases > E-mail Archives Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
