Balki, I can only speak from our limited experience (2+ months) but here goes.. 1. Changeover on our equipment amounts to adjusting rail width and loading a new program so frequent changeovers aren't really a problem. The board database is mainly a function of disk space. With today's large disks that pretty much translates to 'unlimited'. 2. From what I've seen, the lower end equipment which equates to benchtop units run $35-$60k. Mid-range units (like ours) run $100-$150k. The high-end is $200k+. Floor space varies. Benchtops are just that. Our free-standing inline unit requires about 9 sq ft. (including operator space). 3. Processing time again is variable. Our machine for instance checks 190 parts on one assembly in 30 secs. We don't currently run it inline but may do so in the future. Hi Technetters Wondering if any of you could share your experiences with the use of AOI equipment... 1. could it be used if the floor handles a really low volume and high mix setup......what is the changeover and setup times we are looking at.....how many of boards can we hold in the database? 2. what is the cost of a low-end equipment and dimensions... 3. what are the "ballpark" processing times in general.....is it used in-line for all boards or done more on a sampling basis? thanks in anticipation Balki __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
