Phil, We use the same geometry for inductors, C's and R's. These 0402's are so tiny, the height difference is so small. Although the inductors are a bit longer, but still have no problem at all. The geometry we use is this: Land size: 0.6mm x0.675mm Space between pad: 0.3mm 0.675 0.3 0.675 ____________ ____________ | | | | | | | |0.6 | | | | | | | | We do use different geometry's for larger ones though. Hope this help. It seems that due to the critical nature of RF circuitry, a larger gap between pads is recommended, making the total pad area smaller than the C 's and R's. This was brought to my attention by one of our RF electrical designers who kept having problems with his board until we changed the pads to what was being recommended by the manufacturer of the part. What is your approach to this problem? Do you set up unique pad geometries for each 0402 component or do you generalize that all 0402 packages only get one geometry? We have approximately 56 parts which fit into this category which I am looking for support from the group as to whether or not we go back and fix all of these. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- TechNet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF TECHNET Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TechNet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d To unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the BODY (NOT the subject field): SIGNOFF TECHNET Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information, or contact Keach Sasamori at [log in to unmask] or 847-509-9700 ext.5315 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
