I've decided that I can't sit back and read all of the past responses without my own 2 cents. The comments that this article is "cold war propaganda" and "unrelated to TechNet" should keep in mind that the purpose of TechNet is to assist all of us in solving design and manufacturing issues that can prevent issues similar to what happened to the Kursk. We should all be thankfull for the improvements to technology (assisted by shared experence) that reduce the occurance of "accidents". We need to keep in mind that most of our products have very critical applications and that we hold the fate of others in our hands every day. I am with you, I don't think we promote this stuff but we are always trying to inform each other on the news of electronics and the world for that matter. If your like I am, you don't even have time to watch the news let alone the news paper. Don't kid yourself this is not cold war era this is the year 2000, these subs are in service NOW. Do you think the US submarines are delivering Twinkies to the rest of the world? Do you think that Russian sub was practicing for the the Olympic 400 meter freestyle competition? Who really knows why it sank besides the poor guys on the sub, it's tragic but part of the job. Werner wasn't trying to insult anyone, this is the melting pot of the world, a sub sank, it's big news. It just happened to be a Russian sub.
