I suggest that you obtain a copy of the ANSI/ESD S20.20-1999 as a guide for development of an Electrostatic Discharge Control Program. Get three quotes on every item that you identify, and locate your regional ESD Association chapter and contact them for information. Many of the supplier members of the ESD Association are NARTE Certified ESD Engineers and will guide you to the most economic approach to your program requirements. Have several suppliers outline a program and quote the costs. A good program satisfies all of the requirements for cost effective ESD control. By "good" I mean one that will satisfy most of the prevention requirements (and customer audits) without going "overboard" on ESD prevention and spending thousands of dollars on items that are "nice" to have but not really necessary. We have identified the following main items as needs for this program: ESD floor, ESD bins/boxes for components or product, wrist straps, foot straps, ESD test kit, ESD mats, ESD packaging. This program would be implemented at a contract manufacturer's location with approx. 47,000 square feet of manufacturing floor space. From what I remember, it is typically the ESD floor protection (wax, tile, or carpet) that usually costs the most. Thoughts on cost? Thanks! ############################################################## TechNet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8d ############################################################## To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TECHNET <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TECHNET ############################################################## Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information.
