Hi Peter, First, we don't coat paneled boards but individual assemblies. If you are talking acrylic conformal coating (Humiseal 1B31 or 1B73 for example) I've noticed it can lose adhesion with the assembly when trimmed too much. Better to mask the area (Tempseal 300 in our case) than take a chance. Besides, IPC-A-610 9.1.2 Conformal Coating - Coverage addresses adhesion concerns and also states coating should only be where specified and not where it isn't specified (with allowances for application method). Granted, if your customer agrees to something (coating acceptability) that supercedes everything else including IPC specs. Hans ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hans M. Will coating get into the scored grooves and make depanelling difficult and potentially damage the coating?
