Barry, You might want to also investigate the possibility of board warpage during reflow, it doesn't take much to cause opens on large, fine pitch SMT connectors. I am having SMT Connectors from Amp that are rising up in Reflow and causing opens on the connector. The connector is a Con PRNC 64 pin SMT/1.0 FH Plug. It is my belief that the guide pin to hole ratio is probably too tight; I feel that the plastic guide pin on the bottom of the connector is expanding in reflow thereby causing the connector to rise. If so I need some guidance on how to correct for this. Do I ask my customer to redesign his board, or is there a part issue to be addressed with the part vendor. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
