Tim, I have been using a lot of them lately, but not much in board stacking. Amp Application Specification 114-11004 covers use of Mictors. I don't recall that I've found it on the AMP site; I got my copy faxed from the sales engineer. Unfortunately it contains the following caution in bold: "Amp does NOT recommend the use of more than one connector pair to interconnect two pc boards; if such a configuration is necessary to meet design requirements, consult the Product Information number ... (800-522-6752)" If you can't get a copy out of AMP, I can fax that document to you (17 pages). I have an application where multiple daughter cards are mated to a system board via mictors. The problems occur with cards that have 3 or more mictors per daughter card mating to the mother board. I suspect alignment b/w mictors to be the problem b/c when I only use one connector to mate to another board we have seen no mating errors. Our process currently has the mictors hand inserted before reflow. Help, the next products have as many as 9 mictor connectors on a daughter card.
