Hello Ioan, IPC has several publications that might be helpful, including some in printed format and some on CD. One that I've seen is a small handbook entitled "Component Identification Desk Reference Manual", with an IPC ordering code of DRM-18. This book is not a standard, but it is useful for part identification. Note - Presumably the bigger (more expensive) offerings from IPC include a wider range of parts and detail than DRM-18. You can check out the IPC offerings at their website. www.ipc.org Good luck, Dick Thompson "Tempea, Ioan" <[log in to unmask]>@IPC.ORG> on 06/08/2000 08:02:52 AM Please respond to "TechNet E-Mail Forum." <[log in to unmask]>; Please respond to "Tempea, Ioan" <[log in to unmask]> Sent by: TechNet <[log in to unmask]> To: [log in to unmask] cc: Subject: [TN] Component packages Hi Technos, anybody aware of the existance of a standard on component packages? Like something that shows a little drawing of the component and says this is a SOIC8, this is a QSOP and so on. You know, things get really complicated when it comes to crystals and odd forms. I feel the need of this kind of standardization since in the contract manufacturing world we meet all kind of denominations for the same package. Each client seem to call the same component in a different manner. I checked the JEDEC site, but there are so many standards there... Maybe your experience could give me a more precise hint. Thanks very much, Ioan ############################################################## TechNet Mail List provided as a free service by IPC using LISTSERV 1.8c ############################################################## To subscribe/unsubscribe, send a message to [log in to unmask] with following text in the body: To subscribe: SUBSCRIBE TECHNET <your full name> To unsubscribe: SIGNOFF TECHNET ############################################################## Please visit IPC web site (http://www.ipc.org/html/forum.htm) for additional information.
