IMHO there is no such thing as good solder in dross. You will find that metal recovered
thus will always have large quantities of oxides in suspension and these will form
nuclei for further dross formation. If you put it back in the pot, the rate of dross
formation will increase. This is why the initial fill and topping-up of the pot should
be with dross-reduced solder and why, even when metallic impurities are within limits,
the solder should be regularly changed (when dross formation becomes excessive).
