Mike McMonagle: The sources listed by Ron are about the only ones
historically available and his advice was/is good. Not that it will do you
any good at this instant but the IPC and the Wire Harness Manufacturers
Association (WHMA) are teaming to write a new document series (A-371X) that
deals with "Acceptability Criteria" for all phases/aspect of
wire/harness/cable assemblies. That document will include criteria for
tinning and soldering stranded and solid conductors, but until it is
published you might want to find old copies of the Military Standards that
Ron referenced.
