Robert, The easiest way to change the associations of files is to use winfile. It will look and operate like windows explorer. It is somewhat buried in your windows directories so either use "find file" in the start menu or run "winfile" from the start menu. Once you are in winfile, just find the file you want to change the association of, and change the association. The option is under the "File" menu. I usually have the best luck changing the association back to "none". (I use this thing so often I have put shortcut to winfile on my desktop).
