Ed, While I agree with what you have said, I must add something to it. While yes the elements outline a common sense approach, this is exactly what more than a few companies need in order to move them forward in their goal to make money. To implement a QMS modeled after the 9000 series standards may indeed be a marketing tool; however, the act of establishing and adequately maintaining this same QMS will be for the dedicated management and workforce, exactly what they need to become successful. It is my opinion that the effectiveness of the use of this standard is directly related to the goals, desires, and dedication of the people implementing and maintaining it, not the registrar, not the suppliers customers, not the consultants, etc. etc etc.... Of course this is merely my opinion, and I could be wrong...
