Peter, On behalf of pretty much everyone in this industry, I think it is extremely important to clarify EXACTLY what the spokesman from the British Government, Department of Trade and Industry (DTI as we refer to here) stated in respect to the WEEE directive. As I understand it: "The proposed ban on the use of lead in the electronics industry will not be implemented." Given the level of investment that has been committed by material manufacturers - I think it only fair that we demand an absolute clarification. Can we through the SMART Group obtain that clarification? After all, the statement was made at our Lead-Free Conference last week.
