Under natural convection cooling, I know black anodized aluminum dissipates heat
more efficiently than unfinished aluminum due to radiation. Recently, I was told
that other colored anodizing, and even clear anodizing, dissipate as good as
black. The explanation was that the spectral emissivity of aluminum oxide,
whether colored or not, is equally high in the infra-red range. Is it true that
black and clear anodizing make no difference?
