Hot Bar soldering it's the technique to attach Flex Circuits to PCB, Flex to Flex and Flat Ribbon Cable to PCB's. If you attach Flex Circuits to PCB you need to add solder to the Pads. Using an stencil to add more solder or order the PCB's with certain amount of solder in those pads. If you attach Flat Ribbon Cables to PCB, you'll need to have Solder Strip, a kapton tape with solder for each pad. Equipment for Hot Bar: Palomar Technologies (www.palpro.com) and Unitek Miyachi (www.unitekmiyachi.com) this company uses Ceramic tips and metal tips for hot bar soldering. I read that Palomar bought Todcco, a company with a lot of expertise in Hot Bar soldering solutions. Fixturing is the key in the Hot Bar soldering.
