Hi All,
The whole millenium discussion is academic. The new millenium starts
technically Jan. 1, 2001, but our calendar was not invented until some 600
jears after the birth of Christ. Not only that, but the monk doing this made
an error of about 3 to 4 years, and if one starts the First Millenium at the
birth of Christ, than the Third Millenium started 2 or 3 years ago. So, for
you "The End is Coming"-crowd, the end came 2 or 3 years ago, and we are
still here.
But its perception--and hype--that dictate 'reality'; so the new millenium is
celebrated at the start of Y2K.
Merry Christmas (Froehliche Weihnachten) and Happy New Year (Guten Rutsch ins
Neue Jahr) to all.
Werner Engelmaier
