  Richard

I never saw one AOI machine, but my experience in placement machines allow
me the following comment :

Machines that works with axis generaly has a hardware zero location, one
sensor that indicates to machine the reference point for coordinate system.
At other end of the axis could have others sensors that indicates too close
of the end of the axis ( warming sensor) and the sensor that indicates that
the end of the axis was achieved ( this sensor normally shut down servo
motor power ) and after this sensor is a crash absorber device to stop the
inertia of the axis when failures happens.
Another feature is the software limits that are set up in machines, these
limits are programed to prevent axis travel in outside range areas, normally
before the sensors.
So try to check both : software limit and hardware sensor
Be aware of changing zero reference sensor, because ALL previous programs
will change since they were based on the last reference.

I hope this help
