Ivan,

I don't think there is an industry standard as far dross produced per pound
of solder used that I'm aware of. A lot of it is dependent on the type of
process you have: nitrogen vs. air, single wave vs.double wave, etc. In my
case I use an Electrovert Econo-Pak Plus with the Contour Plus option and
usually have both waves on the majority of the time. I also use a dross
recovery powder that has reduced our cleaning time by 25%. I did a little
number crunching of the last four weeks and calculated that for every pound
of solder we use approximately .71 pounds of dross is removed. We produce
approximately 1.35 lbs of dross/hour during the regular work week.

Hope it helps,

Subject: [TN] Dross Reducing agent

What is an industry standard (or current experience) on dross produced
(relationship of adding new solder versus removing dross for, i.e. for every
pound of solder added we remove X amount of dross kind of deal)
Also, has anybody had any experience with using dross reducing agents (Kind
of
like a detergent to sprinkle at removal of dross) to separate Good solder
form
the oxides. I have acompany (no names ) that is trying to sell me on this
stuff
and I would like to hear past experiences with this type of additives.
Any and all replies will be greatly appreciated

Ivan Barrios
