We used a wax type for dross reducing agents, they really worked great,
but the wave solder machine vendor claimed about a potential failure at
solder pump system, the failure mechanism were based on liquid wax to mix
with powder dross at pump helices and force the motor. In fact, at
preventive maintenance disassembly the pump helices were covered by a kind
of cream that were different from the powder dross that normally happens
before we used the wax. After we stoped the use of the wax, the vendor said
that we were using too much wax on the solder pot.
I still dont know if the wax isn't good or we used too much ...
Today we use solder alloy prepared inside inert atmosphere ( Nitrogen )
this process reduces the oxid formation.
