hi,

magnesium alloys are plated in a manner that is similar to that used for
aluminum alloys.  first an immersion zinc (zincate) coating is deposited
followed by copper followed by whatever you want.  suggest you talk to a
plating company.

dow 20 refers to a conversion coating that is used to protect the magnesium
surface and is often used as a base for painting the magnesium.

Dear Techneter :

         Could you please tell me how to plate electroless nickel on
magnesium. Or the specification of the EN. And someone tell me the magnesium
material is DOW 20. Is it correct? Please advise me. Thanks.

ps. The product that I wish to plate EN on magnesium is the surface/crust of
notebook computer
