1. Wrist straps for everyone! (Assuming that you have a good grounding
system in place.)
2. Heal straps for everyone if you have static dissipative flooring!
3. Liberal use of liquid anti-stat daily in work stations unless you have
ststic dissipative work surfaces.
4. Smocks with conductive grid for all persons in assembly areas.
5. Ionized air blowers in work stations where semiconductor parts are
present.
6. Treat everything as though it was ststic sensitive, yes even screws, nuts
and bolts!
This is a good start. Get a copy of MIL-STD-1686 and MIL-HDBK-263.
Best of luck

Subject: [TN] high pressure + low humidity = stress

Hi Technetters,

The following e-mail got sent a little while ago, but I don't think it
worked. If it did then sorry to bother you:

Our part of England has been experiencing a high pressure area for a
little while now. The relative humidity has thus managed to go below 30%,
causing us to go through our more stringent antistatic precautions.

The question is, what precautions do you find acceptable? In such
conditions, how do you implement them? We have a large conventional
manufacturing area, and room humidifiers would not be cost effective.
What would you do in such an area? What is the most cost effective
solution?

Thankyou for your time,

Best Regards,

Richard Tilbrook,
Student Engineer,
British Aerospace
