George:

You may want to look at Appendix A, of IPC-6012A (page 25). The requirement for
Class 3 is a resistance value of < 20 ohms.

Hope that helps.

Subject: [TN] IPC-6012 Electrical Test Requirements

Good Morning 'Net Land,

I found a problem with the Electrical Test Requirements of IPC-6012. The problem lies
with either the specs, or my ability to read and interpret them.

Here is what I found.
Par. 3.9.2.1 of 6012 states:
"There shall be no circuits whose resistance exceeds the values established in
IPC-ET-652."

In IPC-ET-652 par. 4.2.3 Resistance states:
The actual inter-network resistance is compared to the user determined thresholds.

Par. 4.3 Test Parameter Matrix states:
Table 4-1 defines performance classes and Table 4-2 gives typical starting points for
determining the electrical testing requirements for the product. (Table 4-2 is titled
Typical Electrical Test Requirements.)

A similar situation exists for Isolation testing.

My point is: '6012 says that requirements are established in ICP-ET-652, however '652
does not seem to establish any requirements, instead it expects the user to determine
the requirements.

Can someone help me find the established resistance values (for class 3 boards)
referred to in IPC-6012?
